’20-’21 SEASON

2020-2021 Season

This season, company members have even more choices. In a world where so much has closed down, that’s nice to hear, isn’t it?

Our fall Acting Intensive track now features a choice between a scripted filmed project and an improv class culminating in an improv performance. The scripted project is more appropriate for more experienced actors while the improv class is geared toward rising actors.

Our Musical Track continues as it has in the past with an all-company musical, The Sound of Music, set for production in May, but with the addition of a high-school only track, Man of La Mancha, with production dates in early March.

You may choose one or a combination of these tracks. High school students may participate in both musical tracks.

Tentative dates: providing heath codes allow, our all company musical will perform in an outdoor venue on May 14, 15 and 16, 2021, and our high school musical will perform March 5, 6, and 7.

Acting Track

We’re bringing back our successful Acting Intensive Track, which will obviously look different than it has in the years past, but just as fun and exciting! Placement by audition.

For more experienced actors, we’ll be taking advantage of Director Amy Love’s TV and film production experience to shift our straight stage play to a filmed project. Actors will have the experience of rehearsing and acting for camera and will see how a filmed production is put together.

For emerging actors, we are offering an Improv Project which is lively, fun and builds vital acting skills.

This year we’re keeping our rehearsal dates flexible and will be dependent on the school schedule of participating actors, as everyone is doing school a little differently.

Musical Track

Based on the enthusiasm from last season and the growing interest in our company, we planned to expand our programming this season to provide more joyful theatre experiences for our company members – and we’re not letting COVID stop us.  This year we will be producing TWO musicals – one for all LU company members and another just for high school company members. We are looking into rights for several short list options and will be announcing them soon.

Though our goal is to produce these musicals live, we also have the ability to pivot to a filmed format if necessary. Musical track rehearsals will continue on Sunday afternoons beginning late September, either in an outdoor location (TBD) or on Zoom, as we follow county guidelines for safety. Casting will take place in mid September.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will begin in early October and will include one or two sessions per week after school and one on the weekend.

Rehearsals will be in an outdoor location or on Zoom, or a combination of both, as we follow fluctuating county guidelines for safety.

Auditions

Please take a video of yourself singing a song that is in a comfortable range and shows your abilities, as well as a short monologue, either dramatic or comedic (30-60 sec.) If you need ideas for monologues, email us and we’ll send you some.
